Dear Friends,

Our family has been deeply moved by the generosity of friends throughout Charlotte and the world. The expressions of support through emails, cards, prayers, and gifts for John, have been far greater than we could have ever imagined. The gifts he has received from
around the nation
brought a smile to all of our faces. John has thoroughly enjoyed it! We sincerely appreciate all of you thinking of us in such a special way at this challenging time in our lives. Your generosity means more than you know.
Many of you have asked what we need, what John's needs are, what you can do, and offered to help. John was receiving great care here in Charlotte. However, since March we have been traveling back and forth to New York city on a monthly basis for John to have some advanced cancer treatments that are only offered at
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
(MSKCC). MSKCC see's two hundred of the five hundred children that are diagnosed with
Neuroblastoma
(NB) each year. They see
more NB patients than almost all of the other hospitals in the country combined. They have a large team of doctors and nurses that only work with Neuroblastoma cancer, they are the best of the best!
The health insurance deductibles and prescription costs for John are a significant burden on us financially. MSKCC is considered a non-preferred provider, therefore our insurance company will only pay 70% of what they deem as
"reasonable and customary",
the balance of which we are responsible to pay.
For example, just the deductibles for insurance and prescriptions over the past four months have exceeded thirteen-thousand dollars. The costs of surgery to remove his tumor and post-operative care for John at MSKCC in March exceeded fifty-thousand dollars.
We would like to take this opportunity to make available an avenue for you to help us in a very tangible way. Anyone wanting to assist us in this effort can make a donation in one of two ways: mailing in a contribution or using PayPal's secure internet based donation system. Any size contributions is appreciated and no amount is too small, whether it be $1 or $100, we will appreciate it.
Contributions received will be used to assist with expenses for John's medical care and will be placed in a specifically designated account. In the event that contributions received through the church are greater than the financial need, the funds will be used by the church to benefit other local families in crisis.
If you are not familiar with John's diagnosis, he was diagnosed with stage IV
Neuroblastoma
on December 14, 2006
,
one day before his sixth birthday
. Neuroblastoma is a rare childhood cancer. Feel free to visit

To God be the glory, great things He has done; So loved He the world that He gave us His Son, Who yielded His life an atonement for sin, And opened the life gate that all may go in.
